Granger makes a case for Thoreau’s status as a rebel that goes beyond the catchphrase of “civil disobedience”. But it wasn't very useful. This is very Basic. There is much better, free information about making fake rocks on the internet.. The quiet panels create a feeling of welcome solitude, joining in Thoreau’s experience. Later, the silence is used for a different purpose, as he helps smuggle slaves to freedom in an atmosphere of secrecy and danger.A six-page ending essay by Michel Granger, a professor specializing in Thoreau’s life and work, discusses his political positions and philosophies. Good basic reader for the novice or intermediate user. Excellent read. I am honored I got to meet him and I will cherish this book for years to come. "A Survivor's Story" is written without fluff, an account of how this incredible young man survived the Holocaust and moved to America to become a successful businessman. He enjoys the graphic novel style as it helps him to read about nonfiction topics with more understanding.He was so delighted with it, that he stayed up late reading. I had an opportunity to meet the author at a WWII reenactment in PA a few months ago. I bought this after visiting Walden Pond and found it a very thorough introduction to Thoreau..
